天美传媒hosts events for Women鈥檚 History Month 2021

Ohio University is hosting a series of free virtual events in honor of Women鈥檚 History Month 2021. 

The programs and activities can be viewed on the 2021 Women鈥檚 History Month website, as well as in the Calendar of University Events. 

鈥淒uring this year鈥檚 Women鈥檚 History Month, we are thrilled to celebrate the many contributions of women to our history, culture and democracy,鈥 said Dr. Gigi Secuban, vice president for diversity and inclusion. 鈥淎t a time when our country is facing ongoing challenges related to public health, racism, sexism and rising xenophobia, it is all the more important to reflect on and learn from women鈥檚 leadership鈥攑ast, present and future. I am grateful to the Ohio University Women鈥檚 Center and campus partners for their tireless work putting together this year鈥檚 exciting calendar of events.鈥

The events include:

鈥 Herrold, an American actress known for the British television drama 鈥淚ndustry,鈥 will speak at noon on Monday, March 1.  

鈥 The challenge provides opportunities to create art inspired by women leaders of color throughout the month. 

鈥 The Clintons will be discussing their book, 鈥淭he Book of Gutsy Women,鈥 at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2. 

- This workshop will provide participants with the tools needed to identify comments, actions and myths that uphold rape culture, and to practice bystander intervention techniques to interrupt them. The event will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 4.

: The Role of Mexican Feminist Artivists in Social Movements with Lenny Massiel Cauich Maldonado 鈥 This talk will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 8. 

鈥 Dr. Valerie Young, an internationally recognized expert on impostor syndrome, will give a talk at noon on Friday, March 12. 

鈥 The free event aims to bridge women鈥檚 relationships in areas of community, university and professions. The conference theme, 鈥15 Years of Celebrating YOU,鈥 will focus on presentations by more than thirty speakers. The event will be held on Friday, March 19.

Renowned bi+ speaker, author and activist Robyn Ochs will give two talks, , at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 15, and , at noon on Wednesday, March 24. 

鈥 This talk, with Dr. Susan Rensing, will use a reproductive justice framework to discuss some of the historical struggles in the decades before the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. It will be held at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 23.
