College of Fine Arts faculty experts Brent Frederick, assistant professor of instruction in musical theater and music director for 鈥淕reat Comet,鈥 Alan Patrick Kenny, assistant professor, head of musical theater, and director of 鈥淕reat Comet,鈥 and College of Arts and Science鈥檚 Marilyn Atlas, professor of English, discussed bringing Ohio University alum Dave Malloy鈥檚 Tony-nominated musical 鈥淣atasha, Pierre, & The Great Comet of 1812鈥 from page to the stage during an Ask the Experts livestream on Friday, April 1.
鈥淣atasha, Pierre, & The Great Comet of 1812鈥 is an electropop opera based on a scandalous slice of Leo Tolstoy鈥檚 War and Peace. Young and impulsive, Natasha Rostova arrives in Moscow to await the return of her fianc茅 from the front lines. When she falls under the spell of the roguish Anatole, it is up to Pierre, a family friend in the middle of an existential crisis, to pick up the pieces of her shattered reputation.
