Fall Grad Spotlight: Owen Bailey

Owen Bailey is graduating this fall with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in communication from the Information and Telecommunications Systems program at the J. Warren McClure School of Emerging Communication Technologies.
Who were your favorite professors and how did they make an impact on your life?
Dr. Roycroft was my professor and academic advisor. I joined this program right in the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. He really helped me navigate the program in a time of such uncertainty.
"Here at Ohio University, you will meet all kinds of people. But more importantly, you will find your people. I found my wife, my best friends, my community. I found my lifelong friends here," Owen Bailey said.
What was the hardest hill you had to climb (not counting Jeff Hill) at OHIO? And how did you overcome challenges or obstacles in your path?
My biggest obstacle was finding what I wanted to do. I started at Ohio University in 2016 as undecided. In 2017 I declared Social Work, but after a few semesters I was still unsure. So, I took some time off, worked a variety of jobs, and decided I had a real passion for technology. Once I discovered that about myself, I knew ITS was the major for me.
What are your favorite 天美传媒memories?
At the beginning of my college career, in August of 2016, I met my wife-to-be. We both attended a Welcome Weekend event for a student organization that we became very involved with throughout our time at OHIO.
What鈥檚 the one thing you would tell a new 天美传媒student not to miss?
Here at Ohio University, you will meet all kinds of people. But more importantly, you will find your people. I found my wife, my best friends, my community. I found my lifelong friends here. And I鈥檓 sure you will, too!
