Smart Bail Network Software Engineering Intern

About the Opportunity:
Smart Bail Network (SBN) is a next-generation digital platform to modernize pretrial release through intelligent software, community integration, and justice innovation. We are offering an exclusive summer internship for highly skilled Ohio University computer science and software engineering students to help build the beta version of our platform.

Who We're Looking For:
Technically advanced students capable of writing complex code, contributing to scalable architecture, and working with real-time data systems.
Required Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Python, JavaScript/React, TypeScript, Kotlin, or Go
- Experience with REST APIs, data structures, and algorithm design
- Understanding of database design (SQL/NoSQL), cloud services (AWS/GCP preferred), and security protocols
- Ability to debug, test, and optimize full-stack applications
- Familiarity with Git workflow, Agile methodology, and documentation standards

Internship Responsibilities:
- Help build the SBN Beta MVP from scratch or on a custom stack
- Collaborate with product managers, justice stakeholders, and front-end designers
- Write, review, and deploy modular, maintainable code
- Integrate feedback from court officials, attorneys, and bail agents
- Participate in strategy, architecture, and product meetings

Location:
Hybrid model – collaboration at Ohio University’s Innovation Center

Timeline:
