I want to assure you that ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½is fully committed to a robust student experience this Spring, including in-person classes and increased events and activities across our campuses.
We have plenty to celebrate as we wrap up the semester. More ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½students, faculty, and staff get vaccinated against COVID-19 every day, and we all can be proud of our 84.8 percent vaccination rate.
OHIO’s November 15 deadline to be vaccinated against COVID-19 has passed. I am proud of our efforts to protect each other and hope you feel some of that pride with me.
Recently President Sherman re-emphasized OHIO’s commitment to in-person learning. Indeed, our campus COVID trends are promising: case counts are going down and vaccine rates are going up.
I have good news to report this week: our Athens campus passed the 70 percent vaccination threshold yesterday for students, faculty, and staff combined.

We are excited to have so many students back in the classroom again. However, the return to our campus communities has also predictably resulted in an increase of COVID-19 cases.

Beginning August 23, COVID Operations will invite fully vaccinated students, faculty, and staff to participate in asymptomatic surveillance testing.
